The War is On! Sock War III, That Is...

100_1061This year I'm playing along in one of the world's most extreme knitting games, Socks Wars.  Like many other warriors, I received my pattern late - was supposed to arrive at 12 pm GMT, which from what I could figure would be about 5 am.  It finally popped in around 2:30 pm.   Add to that, the pattern doen't seem to have been tested.  Would you like to guess what the general mood of the participants is?  Yeah...  As for me, I'm going to keep on knitting and have some bloody fun!   Here's a wip shot of my weapon... "The Detonator"!  Mawhaaaaaaaaa!

Friday Fill-Ins #71

1. The gravy had an extra secret ingredient; it was tears!
2. Sunlight through my window.
3. Right now, I need that!
4. The kitchen is where I went Thursday night; it was messy.
5. Why does my mother-in-law hurt so much?
6. All I can think of is the Sock War.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to knitting for Sock War III tomorrow my plans include knitting and Sunday, I want to knit!

Picked up this while visiting Debbi's blog.  What fun!  If you'd like to play along too - go here or use the button on the sidebar.

Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes.....

Decide that I needed a new look - well sorta.  I've changed my blog name (just the name, not the url).  Not that I didn't like the old one, I just didn't lurve it, if you know waht I mean.   Not that this one is any better, mind you, but it's more in line with my Ravelry ID - which is 1KnuttyKnitter.

100_0891100_0892I just love me some Vera Bradley!  The first photo is of a "Vera" bag - it's ginormous and makes for a wonderful knitting bag.  It was my Valentine's day present from Ken and the kids!  This pattern name is Kensington and is quickly becoming one of my favorite patterns.  The next two shots are of the "Purse Cosmetic" Which is my newest knitting toy...  It's great for my notions!  Outside I have clipped a little flashlight to help me find things inside the big bag.  Inside there are three mesh pockets and on zipper pocket.  I can keep all of my gadgets handy and tidy.  Also tucked inside is a new "Kiss-lock Coin Purse" in Rivera Blue which works very nice with Kensington.  The coin purse was a freebie that I received when I bought cosmetic bag and will be the temporary home of my stash enhancement fund!  LOL!  The new freebie will be a kiss-lock photo album, which I hope to get, again in Rivera Blue to carry around pics of FO's and maybe my kids!  LOL!100_0897

This was a test knit for a project I'm making for an SP. Isn't it cute?  I ended up changing it up just a little and won't be using this one after all!

Hail the Red Tipee!

Snakes We were welcomed to the west coast with this lovely sign at a rest area just outside of Tampa.  Florida - 'ya gotta love it!  The Section-4 South OA Conference was great!  Once again, Tipisa was well represented - thanks in large part to Astatula!   I drove Dyl and two other boys over, and the chapter took the "party bus".  A three-hour trip of uninterupted knitting time sounds tempting doesn't it?  But, consider that the bus is hauling 10-12 boys who are usually bored to tears on the trip out, thus up to no good, and will not have showered for the entire weekend and reek to high heaven on the trip back!  Driving tends to be a no brainer.  I tried to convince my OA pal Nancy to ride along with me and the boys in the van, but her son opted for the party bus, so she went along.  She was not happy to report that the a/c cut out on the trip over.... ugh!

100_0682_2Here's  my humble abode for the weekend.  I purchased the shepherd's hook at Joann's to hang my lantern on in the evening, but since I didn't spend any time at mSocksy  tent in the evenings, it was used during the day for a place to hang my class A shirt.  The socks are going well - I ended up frogging about 8 rows cuz I was off on my lace pattern, but I got it all back on the needles and was off again in no time! I had really hoped to het to the heel, but oh well...  We are going camping with the troop this weekend - so I'll be back at it!  I've discovered there is one thing I must add to my camp knitting bag... a large bulldog clip - I'm going to clip my pattern to the arm of my chair!  Brillant - I know!

Flower I loaned my camera to one of the boys, so I didn't get many shots during the day.  I really want to work on more nature shots and play with the macro setting.  This cute litte flower was popping up through the pine needles!

Okay, sTipisao I spent all of my time in the AIA area sitting in the shade and knitting my sock.  With the OA - I figure that's my job.  Heck - even with the troop - that's my job!  And so I didn't get too many pictures of the boys this trip - until the show on Saturday night! I didn't go to the show last year - so I hadn't seen this totem before!

Hail the Red Tipee!

Before          After                I love this!  On the left is the boys before the show.  Dyl is in the lime green.  Yeah - waiting...   And then - slightly more pumped - chanting Tip - Tip - Tipisa!   Tip - Tip - Tipisa!  They crack me up!

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to camp I go....

100_0680Getting ready to head out for another weekend with the boys.  I'll be working on Falling Leaves which I begun the other day while waiting to have the a/c fixed in the van.  Here's how they are looking so far... It is a very simple pattern to memorize and they are working up very nicely.  They don't have a patterned heel, so I plan to make a pair of Fern Clog Socks as well.  I'm using Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in olive for the Fal100_0679_2ling Leaves and have some Louet Gems in an olive for the Fern Clog Socks.  I have a nice red in the Louet to top off both pairs.

My sock will be traveling through camp in style - all thanks to the wonderfully talented Mary from my knitting group.  Check out this little goodie she had for me on Wednesday!  It has a velcro tab, so I can hook it on my bag or a belt loop.

They say it's my birthday!

Getting old sucks!  Me the chins had our driver's licence renewed today.  Showed it to Kai (who was waiting in the car) and what did that child do?  Laugh!  What nerve!  Who raised that child?

Yikes1I'm glad to report that I have lost 15 pounds over the past month - otherwise I suppose of few more of those pesky chins would have appeared in this lovely photo!

We had lunch with a one of our knitterly pals it was great fun!  She gave me Knitting Rules!  by Stephanie McPhee.  I've read the first few pages and skimmed through - looks like it's going to be a good read!

I'mmmmmm Back!

My oh my... what a bad blogger I have been!  It's all because of Ravelry - okay well maybe I could take a little of the reponsibility for being a wee-bit entranced!  If you are a knitter (or one of those happy-hookers or a spinner) you will love you some Ravelry!  It's just too much to go on about - you have to experience it for yourself - but I will say it has totally changed knitting in my life!

One of the Ravelry groups that I like to view is "Malabrigo Junkies".  Of course they are all things Malabrigo.  Last month was Malabrigo March ~ where the group took on the daunting task of trying to move Malabrigo up on the "popular yarns" listing.  We weren't successful, but we came pretty dang close!  I did my part - here's a look see...

100_0675 This is Calorimetry from Knitty - Winter 2006. It is done with Malabrigo Merino Worsted in the colorway Rhodesian.  I begun it on March 31st - the last day of Mmmmmmarch and finished it April 1st!  I used a great vintage mother of pearl button from a button collection I had picked up at an antique store some years back.  Cuz - you just never know when you are going to need a way cool button!
100_0413 Here is Tudora.  This is also from Knitty - this time Winter 2007.  It is one is also in Merino worsted - in colorway Pagoda. The great button came from Knit and Stitch!  It's a Christmas gift for 2008!  Begun and finished on March 1st.
100_0450_5 Tudora in Vaa Merino worsted for Kai. The great mop button on this piece came from Joann's. Begun on the 8th and finished on the 11th.  One of the great things about this pattern is that I learned to cable without a cable needle.  You just zip right through them!
100_0486 Tudora in Pink Frost Merino worsted for my friend Mary. Begun on the 12th and finished on the 14th.  This button was a pefect fit for the yummy Malabrigo and was purchased at Joann's.  Mary faced breast cancer last year and had developed a fondness for pink.  It looks great on her!

And here's the gang of Eau Gallie Knitters at Eau_gallie_2Panera's in Indian Harbour Beach (or is that side of the street Indialantic?)

The Holidays...

I can't believe it's nearly the middle of December!  I'm so not ready for the holidays!

I had hoped to make each of the girls a wash cloth and a bar of soap.  So far I have 2 of 8 done...

Well -I guess I need to get back to the needles!
